Student Production AWards Host

Join our show host Gordon Severson from KARE 11 in Minneapolis as we celebrate Outstanding Achievements of high school & college media students across the Upper Midwest Emmy® Foundation Region.

Gordon received an Upper Midwest Emmy® Scholarship in 2006. Ten years later, he joined KARE 11 in Minneapolis as an MMJ. In 2019, Gordon He received his first Upper Midwest Emmy® for Video Journalist.

Gordon is thrilled to help us celebrate 20 years of local Emmy® scholarships and launch us into our second decade of Student Production Awards

COVID AWARENESS

Consistent with current federal, state and local regulations and guidance, the Upper Midwest Emmy® Foundation will not require proof of vaccination or recent negative test results to attend the 2022 Student Production Awards Ceremony. In the absence of a federal, state or local mandate, mask-wearing is voluntary but encouraged.

AWARD STORE

Anyone listed on official SPA nominated or recipient entries from 2011 – present may purchase awards. Nomination Certificates and Crystal Pillar Awards come engraved with entrant’s name and role on entry.

Student Production Awards College/Career Fair

Network on Awards Night! Meet pros, college reps and colleagues as you celebrate the evening.

Friday April 1st @ Graduate Hotel in Minneapolis (University of Minnesota).

300 high school and college students attend this annual event. It’s a tremendous opportunity for company managers/HR representatives to meet with hundreds of potential job seekers!

College/Career Fair Booth

Booth includes:

  • A 6- foot dressed table
  • Power access available upon request
  • Half-page advertisement in commemorative print/digital program
  • Food for two booth reps. Seating for show available on request

RESERVATION DEADLINE

2022 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

Upper Midwest Emmy® Chapter/Foundation help local students pay for some school tuition!
We offer $1,500 student scholarships to be used for tuition & books.  

Scholarships are open to high school seniors and college/university sophomores & juniors or graduate students living or attending school in the five-state region served by the Upper Midwest Emmy®Foundation (MN, ND, SD, IA, western WI).

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – Upper Midwest Foundation offers Classroom Grant Opportunities to enhance the learning experience of media students in our chapter region’s high schools and/or 501(c)(3) post-secondary educational organizations.

2022 Classroom Grant recipient

Classroom Grants allow educators to acquire and distribute resources related to video production, television, and/or broadcast journalism. Since 2017, the Upper Midwest Emmy® Foundation has provided 7 grants totaling nearly $13,000 to local schools for media equipment in their classrooms.

The Diverse Media Institute will receive a $2,000 Classroom grant to purchase six Zoom H4n Pro 4-Input / 4-Track Portable Handy Recorder Kit. Students will use these recorders to gather professional audio to use with iPhone cameras to record interviews for visual podcasts.

2022 AV ALL STAR RECIPIENTS

THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF TELEVISION ARTS & SCIENCES – UPPER MIDWEST CHAPTER FOUNDATION recognizes students who are an incredible technical asset to the overall success of a school or non-profit educational student video media program.

These are the hardest working, most engaged and active students in the school’s video program or club. The go-to students who help keep schools on the air. Educators may nominate one Junior or Senior behind-the scenes personnel from their school or organization’s media program.
