Pete & Kimberly Bedell Rhodes – Black Music America/Urban Mass Media Group: Pete and Kimberly have been producers of media and arts programming, providing communications, entertainment, outreach and education to urban markets since 1980.

The team founded The Minnesota Black Music Awards in 1982 to recognize local and national Black Music genres, artist and provide industry education and artist mentorship. The program presented more than 500 awards from 1984 through 1999. MBMA helped focus national attention and recognition to Minnesota’s Black Music contributions. In 2010 MBMA resumed the awards as a non-profit association to continue its mission to promote the music, artist recognition, career education and art advocacy programs.

The couple owns and operates WRNB Cable FM Media dba Black Music America, a digital cable service. Launched in 1984, WRNB is Minnesota’s only African American owned cable- programming service. The service broadcasts to over 500,000 cable subscribers throughout the thirteen county metros via Comcast cable systems. In 2005 the group launched its first national digital cable channel in Long Beach and Los Angeles County on Charter Communications. These cultural specific arts channels are noted for pioneering urban focused cable services.

In 1998 the team combined operations as The Urban Mass Media Group. UMMG focus is to communicate, educate and connect communities and business with urban audiences. Regional Emmy® nominated UMMG produces awards winning weekly television programs spotlighting urban business, health, lifestyles, community affairs and entertainment.

The group hosts the popular web site, The sites average 150,000 local and worldwide visitors monthly providing music, entertainment, artist’s spotlights, and industry news. In addition the site assist with career searches and online urban marketing services.

The team focus is designed to provide cultural specific outreach and content in television, radio and broadband services. The mission is to provide diversity in programming content through quality programs for audience and clients locally and worldwide. ©
