Dave Anderson – KBJR/KDLH

Dave Anderson is the longest serving meteorologist in the Duluth TV market. He got his broadcasting feet wet as a college student by becoming KDLH janitor in 1986. He held onto that job until 1989 but also got a job at KBJR during the same period on that station’s floor crew.

From 1987 to 1994, Dave served as weather assistant, commercial production grip, fill in weather anchor and news photographer. In 1995, he earned a meteorology degree and became an on-air meteorologist and his station’s first MMJ back when they were called “one-man bands”.

Since then, Dave has welcomed and trained in dozens of reporters, MMJs and meteorologists at his stations. He’s also the go to guy to give tours to youth groups and scout organizations. He volunteers in his community as a Coast Guard Auxiliarist qualified as weather specialist. He also teaches meteorology at Lake Superior College and Northland College. Several of his students have become TV meteorologists.
