Cassandra Shields – Hennepin Technical College
Cassandra served as Secretary for the school’s extra-curricular club, Media Storm. With her leadership and skill, Cassandra helped others get to another level in our Interactive Design and Video Production program. Cassandra served as work-study in the program area and performed daily tasks in the lab from updating software to organizing and checking out equipment to other students.
Whether it’s directing a music video or serving as a crew member for another student’s project, Cassandra always gives her best effort. When Cassandra is in the lab, students know they can get help. She’s willing to help even when she is on deadline for her projects. She does all of these things and always gets her projects completed with exceptional results.
When the school needed a director for the “live” Spring 2016 graduation, Cassandra was the unanimous choice made by the other students in the program. The “live’ multicam event was produced and directed by her and was executed flawlessly. Cassandra is calm, confident and organized. She knows exactly how to get the best from other students when directing a short film, corporate promo or multicam podcast. She has great confidence and incredible grace. Everyone loves working with Cassandra. Cassandra has mastered all aspects of video production, from a 4K DSLR camera to the audio board. Cassandra could probably teach one of our production courses. Her editing skills are exceptional. She uses Avid at her workplace and Adobe Premier Pro here in the labs. There is no piece of software she will not try. Her results are remarkable and last year she won NATAS “Best Director” Crystal Pillar Award for her work on a music video by local artist Michael Shynes. Recently, she produced and advanced production lab music video for local recording artist “Seed”. She leads by example and other students are inspired by her technical skills.
