The Upper Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is dedicated to help the thousands of hometown heroes returning from deployment in 2012. They are coming home and they need jobs.
The Upper Midwest Chapter of NATAS is proud to be marshalling the power of television and online video to help support our hometown military heroes.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports returning veteran unemployment rate is 12%, double the regular unemployment rate. 25% of soldiers serving overseas say employment is a major concern. In Minnesota alone, several thousand vets are returning home this summer.
This year, our chapter produced a public service announcement, urging employers to hire a returning veteran. The PSAs feature country music star, Tribute to the Troops co-founder and military veteran Rocky Lynne.
Our member stations throughout Minnesota, Iowa, North and South Dakota will be airing public service announcements urging employers to hire veterans. We’ll also provide resources in these pages for journalists to tell these stories, getting the message out using the power of video to millions of viewers.
There are two versions: one targeted to Minnesota stations, with the call for action urging people to visit PositivelyMinnesota.com/veterans, the other is suitable for airing throughout our multi-state region – urging people to visit a federal jobs website – Hero To Hired at H2H.jobs
The graphics on this page are also available for your use. High resolution versions are attached below.
Please keep us in the loop on when and where you’ll air the PSAs and use the graphics. We’ll be compiling the list to see how big an impact you’ve made for our heroes.
