Katie Emmer – FOX Sports North

Katie is a sports enthusiast passionate about people & storytelling. Her love of sports started at a young age, growing up as the only girl in the middle of 6 boys in Delano, MN. She was a three-sport athlete in high school career and made the University of Hawaii at Hilo Women’s Basketball team as a freshman walk-on. While warmer weather and a campus near the beach was nice, there wasn’t a program that supported Sports Broadcasting so Katie decided to trade her jersey and sneakers for a microphone at St. Cloud State University.

SCSU is where Katie would find that she loved talking about sports just as much as she loved playing. During the college hockey season, Katie worked as a Rink-Side Reporter and In-Studio Host for the live-game broadcasts produced by Husky Productions. She took advantage of every opportunity including calling play-by-play, color commentator, in-studio host and sideline reporter for football, volleyball and baseball during her time in college. In fact, Katie even hosted a sports talk show every Friday called “Sidelines” that would air on the University channel (UTVS) as well as the University radio station (KVSC).

In 2018, Katie was honored with the 2018 Jim Nantz Award as the top collegiate sports broadcaster in the country and the first woman in history to receive the Award. After graduating with a Degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis in Television Broadcast Journalism, Katie was hired as a Reporter at FOX Sports North in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she covers the University of Minnesota, the Twins, the Timberwolves, the Lynx, the Minnesota Wild and other special sporting events like Hockey Day in Minnesota.
