Antonio Calles – Webster City High School

Antonio has the ability to pick up new ideas and skills very quickly. As a one of the few 4 year students in the WCTV program Antonio has seen and done every part of our production. Antonio can help our student reporters with equipment needs, story design and interviews, taping, and post editing. As this season technical director Antonio oversees all the on screen graphics, runs the switcher and record deck during the show, and helps out wherever else needed. Antonio knows how to setup and operate both our sets of field and studio cameras. Antonio can use Adobe Premiere to edit multi track video and audio projects. Antonio knows how to operate and run our Broadcast Pix production switcher and how to change the switcher setup from our 3 camera weekly show to our 7 camera sports setup. Antonio knows how to setup and operate our portable field switcher when we go out of the studio for on location events.

Antonio works very well with his fellow students. He has a calm personality that puts people at ease and allows him to help them without coming across as bossy or a know it all. Antonio is good at delegating responsibilities to his staff and following up to make sure they get done.

This season Antonio really stepped up and took responsibility for the WCTV program. At the end of last season production jobs were applied for and awarded to returning members. Another student was selected to be the technical director. During the summer right before directors week, the other student left the program. Antonio was selected as the replacement and showed up the next day for the start of directors week. Antonio took ownership and worked hard with the student director to set program goals for the year, work on the schedule, make the graphics package for WCTV, and checked and cleaned equipment to make sure it was ready for the year. Antonio has been a great help this year for WCTV.
